Most reseller weeks fail for one reason: inventory moves faster than your tracking process. You can usually regain control with one repeatable 15-minute routine.
This post gives you a simple operating routine you can run once a week to reduce stale inventory and protect margin. Use it as a working process, not a theory document.
The 15-minute weekly routine
Pull the stale list first (4 minutes). Start with items at 45+ days so the review begins where margin risk is highest.
Check the last 10 sales (3 minutes). Look at net profit, shipping, and fees instead of revenue only.
Make one action call per stale item (4 minutes). Reprice, improve photos, split a bundle lot, or clear it.
Set a buying limit for next week (2 minutes). If stale count is rising, cap buys in that category until sell-through improves.
Write down one metric snapshot (2 minutes). Track stale count, units sold, and margin trend so next week has a baseline.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Running the review without taking action on stale listings.
- Tracking only revenue and ignoring net margin.
- Buying new inventory while old stock remains unaddressed.
- Changing too many variables in one week and losing signal.
Example from a reseller week
One seller ran a quick weekly pass and caught pricing drift on 8 listings before offers came in below target margin. The review caught pricing drift on older listings that had dropped below the profit floor. Last week, one seller repriced 12 listings, bundled 3 items, and re-listed 2 listings after a photo lighting retake. That is the point of this routine: fewer random decisions, cleaner pricing calls, and more predictable weekly output.
Weekly scorecard
Keep a short weekly scorecard:
- 30-day sell-through rate (target 40%+)
- Count of items over 45 days
- Average net margin on recent solds (target 30%+)
- Number of stale listings repriced or relisted
The goal is consistency, not perfect reporting.
Next step
Run this routine once this week and compare your stale count and margin next week. If you want this workflow in an app, install FlipFinds and run it during your weekly review.
